In only its third year of existence, the United Haitian Students of Florida serves as the official collegiate umbrella organization for Haitian students in colleges across the state of Florida. While our primary responsibility is to facilitate awareness and education relating to matters surrounding Haiti and the Haitian Diaspora, UHSF also seeks to foster the growth of Haitian and Haitian American students professionally. These students comprise many majors from over 20 schools across the state of Florida such as the Florida International University, Florida State University, the University of South Florida, the University of Central Florida, Florida Atlantic University, and the University of Miami.
For this reason we aligned ourselves in a joint effort with the Haitian American Leadership Organization because of their love of culture, and their ambition as future professionals, to unifying the Haitian American community in the Diaspora. With all the social economic problems plaguing our community, it’s imperative that WE UNITE.
With that said the United Haitian Students of Florida looks to provide its students with unique opportunities to build upon their impending careers. This year the student body is clamoring for the opportunity to meet again. The Joint Conference will be attended by over 600 students from all the campuses, as well as the most of the elected Haitian American officials in South in Florida.
Conference will include Friday Student Community Seminars (aimed to support high school students and middle school students), Cultural Showcase and Dance Competition, Saturday Professional and Collegiate Seminars/Forums, Presidential meeting, Banquet, and After Party, Sunday BBQ, soccer and Domino tournaments. Conference package price is set for $50.00 per member organization students, meaning Haitian collegiate organizations which paid their yearly due will receive for their students a reduced rate. Non member students will have to pay $65 per ticket. This year’s convention/conference falls on January 22 to January 24, 2009.
More information and Details will be Announced stay glued to this screen as we make history one more time.
• In order to qualify for the UHSF Member Student Rate of $50.00, the student applying must be a member of an Association on his/her college campus that is a due paid member of UHSF at the time of registration.
